Refractory Brick Layer

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is hiring a Brick Layer in Doha to perform refractory installation, repair, relining and maintenance on steel-making equipment such as EAF shells, ladles and tundishes. The work follows supervisor instructions, standard drawings and approved procedures, and requires coordination with production and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and prepare refractory machines, equipment, tools and materials before starting work.
• Handle refractory-related equipment received from production or operations.
• Demolish and clean used refractory linings, removing material, dust, slag and steel skulls before repair or relining.
• Install and repair refractory linings using bricks, castables and other materials according to design and standards.
• Maintain accurate operational records, ensure proper shift handover and follow safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or higher secondary education from a recognised institution.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a steel making plant, preferably in refractory operations, maintenance or a similar role.
• Ability to work independently or in a team under pressure, in environments involving heat, dust, heights and gases.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with refractory demolition, installation, repair, relining, brickwork and castable application.
• Practical knowledge of refractory systems for EAFs, ladles, tundishes, EAF deltas and covers.
• Good understanding of plant and process parameters, refractory materials, equipment inspection, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Basic mathematical and computer skills; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
