Senior Assets & Materials Accountant

About the role

QatarEnergy LNG is looking for a Senior Assets & Materials Accountant. The role covers asset and material inventory accounting, spare parts accounting and related financial, management accounting, tax and regulatory issues, with a broad overview of all financial matters of the section, including the SAP Asset and Materials Management modules.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure month-end, quarter-end and year-end divisional activities follow established guidelines and procedures, leading on complex non-routine or ad-hoc work and recommending solutions.
• Review statutory and management monthly, quarterly and annual reports, advise on complex transactions and perform complex reconciliations.
• Develop processes and procedures so changes in controls and reporting meet corporate requirements, and prepare internal and external reports and position papers.
• Review and recommend improvements to the SAP setup for a robust system landscape.
• Interface with internal and external clients to obtain complex financial information and advise on capital cost recovery for commercial agreements such as the ARFSA, including building complex financial models.
• Coordinate with Project Accounting so project close-out activities are completed on time, and implement policy and process changes in asset accounting.
• Coordinate asset verification with Asset Managers and handle asset accounting for capital leases (e.g. rigs, residential properties) under IFRS.
• Train and develop staff, setting objectives and giving feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a Commercial discipline; or a bachelor's degree plus an internationally recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, CIMA, CMA, CPA).
• 5 years' experience in a finance function in the Oil & Gas industry.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of SAP and accounting systems.
