Senior Munitions Inspector

About the role

The Senior Munitions Inspector serves as the technical expert and advisor for the USAF Munitions Surveillance Program (MSP). This position manages the MSP, oversees inspector qualification, and conducts surveillance inspections to ensure munitions serviceability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the MSP in line with DAFMAN 21-201, including training, certification, and evaluation of all assigned Munitions Inspectors.
• Advise the Munitions Superintendent on program actions and recommend corrective measures.
• Perform surveillance inspections using the Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS) to assess munitions condition.
• Ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Inspect munitions and containers per 11A-1-10 and related technical directives, enforcing USAF and host‑nation explosives safety standards.
• Document serviceability and accountability actions promptly and coordinate with Accountability Section and USAF MASO.
• Conduct warehouse inventories, resolve discrepancies, and monitor negative trends.
• Oversee inspection and certification of munitions brass, residue, and containers per 11A-1-60.
• Repair or replace defective munitions components and manage storage actions according to DOD/USAF explosives standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in munitions inspection, surveillance, and safety compliance.
• Strong knowledge of DAFMAN 21-201, USAF explosives safety regulations, and ISO 9001 QMS.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor inspection teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for trend analysis and problem resolution.
