Senior Welding Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

DOPET is hiring a Senior Welding Engineer for its Oil & Gas / Petrochemical business. The role provides technical expertise in welding and fabrication, ensures compliance with international codes and standards, and improves welding procedures and fabrication processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise in welding and fabrication activities.
• Diagnose welding-related issues and implement effective technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards and project specifications.
• Conduct weld failure analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Improve welding procedures and fabrication processes to ensure quality and reliability.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Welding, Metallurgy, Materials or Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• International Welding Engineer (IWE) qualification is mandatory.
• Extensive experience in onshore and offshore Oil & Gas projects.
• NDT Level II or higher in RT, UT, MT and/or PT.
• Preferred: knowledge of Shell DEP standards and experience in underwater and subsea pipeline welding.

Required skills

• SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW and FCAW welding processes.
• Carbon steel, austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, nickel alloys, copper alloys and CRA materials.
• WPS, PQR and WPQ preparation.
• ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1 and API 1104.
• Weld failure analysis, corrosion, fracture, fatigue and metallurgical testing.
• Hot tapping, temper bead welding and high-strength pipeline steels.
