Sr. QA/QC Engineer (Welding/NDT)

About the role

A major oil and gas operator is looking for a Senior QA/QC Engineer (Welding/NDT) through Airswift for a long-term, 24-month contract on an offshore redevelopment project. The role is based onshore in Qatar, with a possible relocation to the EPC site office, and involves leading QA/QC teams on offshore topsides and jackets projects.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the QHSE Head and provide technical guidance as a lead for QA/QC across engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up projects.
• Develop and update project quality requirements, technical specifications and procedures, and prepare the Project Quality Plan (PQP).
• Ensure compliance with company standards, Shell Department standards and international codes, and manage QMS documentation and compliance in contracts.
• Act as PMT focal point for corporate and external audits, and help plan and run second-party audits of contractors.
• Guide call-offs and the project team on ISO 9001, QMS documentation and certification, and lead the multi-discipline QA/QC team.
• Review contractor and supplier deliverables, take part in pre-qualification and technical bid evaluation, and enforce deviation and non-conformance control.
• Lead the QA/QC team so that Inspection Test Plans and procedures are followed throughout the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably mechanical) or International Welding Technologist; master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of QA/QC experience in oil and gas projects, including 5 years in a senior QA/QC leadership role.
• Strong offshore EPCIC project experience, preferably in an international oil company or EPCIC contractor.
• Experience managing QA/QC teams in complex, multicultural environments.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• ISO 9001 quality management systems and welding/NDT inspection.
• MS Office, databases, spreadsheets and email.
• Lead ISO 9001 auditor certification or equivalent experience in the last 5 years; additional quality certifications desirable.
