Tendering Engineer – Substation Automation

About the role

The Tendering Engineer (Lead Customer) manages the full bid process for Grid Automation, from analysing client requests to submitting proposals. Proposals cover substation automation, protection and control, packaged with Telecom and M&D systems, and must be accurate, competitive and compliant. The role works closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to build cost models, assess risks and optimise scope and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer needs and RFQs and propose products, services and solutions from the DS Agile / G500 / GPG / AAA portfolio, Cyber Security, MiCOM and Multilin ranges, including Telecom and M&D packaging where required
• Prepare compliant offers, flag key risks and maintain a risk and opportunity register, and implement the Return of Experience (ROE)
• Complete site assessments for brownfield and existing substations and keep typical circuits, schemes and solutions in the tendering tool
• Manage the full bid process, run internal tender reviews, hold transfer meetings and hand over documents to operations
• Review and respond to technical clarifications, support order booking and commercial negotiations with the sales team
• Review and maintain the tender hit rate, analyse cost and price preparation, obtain formal quotes for third-party products and challenge costs in tenders
• Carry out commercial and technical win-loss analysis of bids

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably electrical or electronic, or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of experience in tendering, commercial, engineering or related functions
• Strong verbal and written English
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 10-15% of the time
• Hybrid working and comfort with remote work
