Associate/Associate Director Mechanical – Critical Systems

About the role

This senior position is based in Melbourne and leads the mechanical design of critical data‑centre systems. The role sits within a global consultancy’s data‑centre team and works closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver large‑scale, low‑carbon projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery for hyperscale and enterprise data‑centres.
• Develop HVAC, chilled water, direct‑to‑chip immersive cooling and ventilation system designs.
• Produce and review mechanical schematics, reports, specifications and equipment layouts.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, ensuring design quality and performance.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, monitor budgets and programme schedules, and communicate with clients and project teams.
• Develop and nurture client relationships to secure repeat business.

Required profile

• Experienced mechanical engineer with a strong focus on data‑centre projects.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams.
• Client‑focused with excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules and project deliverables.
