Control Engineer

About the role

The Control Engineer will support the maintenance and administration of all control, safety and field instrumentation systems at QatarEnergy LNG on‑shore facilities. You will work closely with operations, engineering and maintenance teams to ensure reliable and safe plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance (PM/CM) for Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS).
• Facilitate complex instrumentation & control (I&C) projects and provide engineering support to the field instrumentation team.
• Perform QA/QC verification for control systems and instrumentation during maintenance activities.
• Support operations through alarm management, shutdown gate meetings, risk‑based work selection, asset reviews and issue register management.
• Manage Management of Change (MOC) activities, system updates and facility impact reviews.
• Contribute to reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) by providing input for root‑cause analysis, risk screening and formal risk assessments.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for new I&C systems.
• Support commissioning, tie‑ins of new projects, and hand‑over processes.
• Maintain and update I&C maintenance policies, deliver training and support strategic initiatives.
• Conduct Emergency Shut‑Down (ESD) tests as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Controls, Computer Science, Electronics or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of instrumentation and control experience in oil & gas or petrochemical environments.
• Knowledge of DCS, PLCs, TMR, ESD systems and third‑party interfaces.
• Familiarity with SAP, control valve maintenance, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), turbine instrumentation and common field devices (DPT, RTD, thermowell, RADAR LT).
