EAL Secondary Teacher

About the role

Newton British Academy – Barwa City is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) Secondary Teacher to join its growing team in Doha. The successful candidate will support multilingual learners, helping them access the mainstream curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality EAL support and intervention programmes for secondary students.
• Assess English language proficiency and identify individual learning needs.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
• Collaborate with subject teachers, pastoral staff and parents to ensure student success.
• Monitor progress, maintain accurate records and produce regular reports.
• Contribute to school life through enrichment activities, events and initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Applied Linguistics, Education or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, QTS or equivalent).
• Experience teaching EAL students in a secondary school setting.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition and effective EAL strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
