Rotating Equipment Technician

About the role

The Rotating Equipment Technician joins the Central Maintenance Team at the Pearl GTL Complex, delivering preventive and corrective maintenance for critical rotating assets. The role ensures equipment availability and integrity in line with Shell’s standards and safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, turbines, engines and generators.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues, including overhaul of large and small rotating equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot dry‑gas seals, wet seals, white‑metal bearings and mechanical transmission assemblies.
• Perform cold and hot alignment, inspect gas and steam turbines, and verify shaft, stator/rotor and bearing clearances.
• Develop job plans, cost estimates and duration forecasts; manage spare‑parts requirements and contract services.
• Apply engineering hazard controls, interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals and standards, and use precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain air and hydraulic systems and apply appropriate lubrication methods.

Required profile

• Technical education (minimum Diploma) in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• 8‑12 years of proven experience in oil, gas or petrochemical maintenance of large rotating equipment.
• Demonstrated competence in safety‑critical activities and use of handheld condition‑monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of vibration analysis, equipment standards and dynamic balancing.
