VSAT L2 Engineer / Satellite Communication Specialist

About the role

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking a VSAT L2 Engineer / Satellite Communication Specialist to join its Middle East & Africa team in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, fault isolation, and performance optimization of VSAT satellite links for enterprise customers. The engineer will act as the second‑line technical owner for critical incidents and coordinate with field teams, OEMs and satellite service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform deep analysis of VSAT link failures, low SNR/high BER, hub‑to‑remote communication issues and network congestion.
• Own and resolve P1/P2 incidents escalated from L1, driving service restoration within MTTR targets.
• Analyze link‑budget parameters, carrier performance, rain fade and other RF impairments.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for chronic link failures and deliver corrective and preventive actions.
• Support VSAT installations, migrations, hub upgrades, frequency and power adjustments, including pre‑checks and post‑validation.
• Coordinate with OEMs (Hughes, Gilat, iDirect), field service teams and satellite service providers for escalations and configuration changes.
• Monitor link stability, throughput and uptime, identifying congestion or RF inefficiencies.
• Provide technical guidance to L1 support, improve SOPs and enrich the knowledge base.
• Prepare RCA, performance and incident reports and participate in problem‑management reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in L2 VSAT support and incident resolution (P1/P2).
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Experience coordinating with OEMs, field engineers and satellite service providers.
• Strong analytical skills for RF and link‑budget analysis.
• Familiarity with change and maintenance procedures for VSAT installations.

• IP networking and routing basics.
• Hands‑on experience with VSAT platforms (Hughes, iDirect, Gilat).
