Senior Consultant – Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine

About the role

The Senior Consultant in Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine will deliver comprehensive, evidence‑based care for patients with respiratory and sleep‑related disorders within a tertiary‑care governmental hospital in Qatar. The role involves diagnosing and managing a wide spectrum of pulmonary conditions, establishing sleep medicine services, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic respiratory diseases in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Interpret and report polysomnography and home sleep testing studies.
• Lead the development and implementation of Sleep Medicine services and clinical pathways.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated patient care.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, teaching, research, and clinical governance activities.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to junior medical staff.
• Fulfill on‑call duties as required.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) recognized by the Department of Healthcare Professions, Qatar.
• Board certification or fellowship in Pulmonology/Respiratory Medicine.
• Additional qualification or demonstrated expertise in Sleep Medicine.
• Eligibility for Senior Consultant licensure by DHP, Qatar.
• Minimum five years post‑certification experience in Pulmonology.
• Experience in establishing or expanding Sleep Medicine services is highly preferred.
