AGE Mechanical Supervisor

About the role

The AGE Mechanical Supervisor reports to the Mechanical Workshop Controller and is an experienced, skilled supervisor who carries out detailed maintenance activities in the AGE bay, applying diagnostic mechanical techniques. The post holder maintains airworthiness through task delegation and authorisation, is aware of external dependencies and identifies areas for continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision of mechanical components in the AGE bay, ensuring work follows the SOW / work package and approved technical information
• Resolve faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management awareness; carry out component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectification, replacements and functional/system tests
• Maintain personal and team task authorisation for working on AGE in line with regulatory requirements and AMC, and ensure staff are competent and approved for their tasks
• Carry out mechanical support tasks such as oversight checks and control of tooling and test equipment, and evaluate faults and raise ad hoc work cards
• Supervise maintenance activities, meet delivery targets and report progress to management; keep log books within the trade and skills boundaries
• Provide guidance and leadership, develop team members through performance reviews and sponsor training requests including on-the-job training
• Manage regulatory activities, prioritise work across teams and assess escalated issues affecting continuing airworthiness
• Comply with the regulatory framework, safety management system (human factors, error management, risk management), Part 145 documentation and governance and assurance requirements, and statutory requirements such as ITAR, EaPW and ISO

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years working at supervisor level before taking this role
• Engineering apprenticeship, ideally aeronautical engineering or military equivalent
• City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent
• Experienced and competent leader with practical experience in aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
• Knowledge of Expositions, Functionally Mandated Procedures and Management training, plus leadership, human factors, E&PW, ITAR and fire training awareness
• UK driving licence (driving to the place of work will be required)
