Mechanical Senior Supervisor - Typhoon Aircraft

About the role

The Mechanical Senior Supervisor is an experienced and skilled mechanical technician who supervises detailed maintenance, inspection and fault resolution on the Typhoon aircraft or its components. The post holder must understand the approved technical data set and be competent to supervise maintenance work in line with the organisation's regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision on the Typhoon and its components, including ground handling, flight servicing, role changes, removals, repairs, modifications, fault rectification and testing.
• Ensure work follows the approved technical information and work packages, and resolve faults and configuration management issues.
• Maintain personal task authorisations and keep maintenance scheduled, escalating issues and reporting their impact on the wider programme.
• Evaluate faults and raise ad hoc work cards for found faults; supervise the team and ensure staff are competent and approved for their tasks.
• Support compliance with the MOE and Functionally Mandated Procedures, such as oversight checks and control of tooling and test equipment.
• Guide and develop team members through formal assessments (PDRs), sponsor training requests including on-the-job training, and lead the team with clear communication.
• Carry out independent inspections, keep a personal log book, and if an approved designated assessor, handle authorisation and task competency approvals and check Pt 145 licence packs before submission.

Required profile

• Engineering apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent.
• Minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent.
• Aircraft platform training (on the aircraft).
• At least 2 years at Technician level before a Supervisor role.
• Breadth of experience and currency shown in a log book, and practical experience of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
• Expositions and FMP management training, PDR training or experience, and compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies and procedures.
• Standard courses: Leadership-Foundation, Human Factors-Standard, E&PW Awareness-Standard, ITAR Awareness-Standard, and Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing and Mechanical Trade 'Q' courses.
