Consultant Internal Medicine

About the role

Military Medical City Hospital (MMCH) is seeking an experienced Consultant in Internal Medicine to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to adult patients across inpatient and outpatient services. The Consultant manages acute and chronic conditions, including complex multi-system cases, works with multidisciplinary and subspecialty teams, and contributes to clinical leadership, supervision of junior physicians and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat and follow up adult patients with acute and chronic conditions
• Manage inpatient cases, outpatient clinics and referrals from other specialties
• Coordinate care for complex, multi-comorbidity patients with subspecialties
• Take part in the on-call and clinical coverage roster and give timely consultation to other departments
• Lead and join multidisciplinary discussions on complex cases
• Supervise and guide specialists, general practitioners and other junior staff
• Keep clinical documentation accurate and complete
• Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, pathways and standards of care
• Take part in clinical audits, quality improvement, patient safety, morbidity and mortality reviews and clinical governance
• Support service development, continue medical education and comply with MMCH policies and Qatar healthcare regulations

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Postgraduate board certification in Internal Medicine
• Post-specialty clinical experience in Internal Medicine in line with DHP requirements
• Experience in a governmental, semi-governmental, tertiary, academic or teaching hospital is highly preferred
• Current hands-on clinical practice and experience supervising junior physicians preferred
• Professional proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage
