CSSD Supervisor

About the role

Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital is looking for a CSSD Supervisor to oversee all sterilisation processes in the hospital and to train and educate staff on sterilisation techniques. The role also serves as a resource for Central Processing customers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee sterilisation staff and quality control work, including cleaning of medical equipment, decontamination, cleaning of operating theatres, wards and dental units, and develop work schedules for the CSSD department.
• Maintain close links with the infection control department and apply best-practice sterilisation techniques.
• Evaluate and order all products used in CSSD, and provide financial records of all expenses; supervise daily staff expense recording and submit them to finance monthly.
• Implement policies and procedures aligned with the hospital's goals, ensuring cost-efficient use of resources and compliance with QHSSE management procedures.
• Train and educate staff, proctor and administer sterilisation exams, and implement a performance appraisal process.
• Organise workshops and lectures on CSSD topics for internal and external professionals, and share ideas to improve efficiency.
• Support patient safety by completing annual patient safety competency training.

Required profile

• Minimum 5-7 years of experience, of which 2-3 years in a similar position, preferably in a similar industry.
• Previous experience as a CSSD Supervisor is an advantage.
• Graduate of a recognised nursing school, with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent; a professional qualification in sterilisation is ideal.
• Fulfil all licensing requirements where applicable.

Required skills

• High proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic is a definite advantage.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
