Design Manager - Utilities

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Utilities to lead the design and coordination of utility systems for infrastructure projects in Qatar. The role involves managing multi‑skilled teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering projects on time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of water, wastewater, drainage, power, telecommunications, and gas networks, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors and government authorities to integrate utility designs and obtain necessary permits.
• Review and approve design drawings, specifications and calculations, providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as primary contact for utility‑related matters, engaging with clients, regulators and other stakeholders.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and manage design changes to align with project objectives.
• Prepare detailed progress reports and maintain accurate documentation of design activities.

Required profile

• 15 years of experience in utility design and management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of managing design teams and delivering complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with innovative solution development.
• Excellent project management skills covering budget, resources and schedule optimization.
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Experience using BIM platforms and industry‑specific design applications.
