Instrument Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

The Instrument Engineer executes and supervises instrument maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting and commissioning at Oil & Gas facilities. The role keeps field instrumentation, process control systems and associated equipment reliable and compliant with company procedures and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of instrumentation systems.
• Carry out instrument loop checking, loop testing, functional testing and commissioning.
• Install, inspect, calibrate, test and troubleshoot field instruments, including hook-up work for pressure, temperature, flow and level instruments.
• Calibrate and maintain transmitters, switches, gauges, analyzers, control valves and valve positioners.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic, electro-pneumatic and smart instrumentation systems.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, wiring diagrams and datasheets.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering and construction teams during shutdowns and projects.
• Keep accurate calibration records, maintenance reports and technical documentation.
• Comply with PTW, LOTO and HSE procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Hands-on experience in instrument loop testing, hook-up works, instrument calibration and control valves.
• Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
• Experience in shutdown and turnaround activities is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of transmitters, switches, analyzers, control valves, field instruments and process control systems.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with HART communicators and calibration equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of PTW, LOTO and HSE requirements in Oil & Gas facilities.
