Instrument Maintenance Engineer

About the role

QatarEnergy is looking for an Instrument Maintenance Engineer in Doha. The role implements policies, procedures and strategies for quality instrumentation maintenance to support the PS-3 Oil & Gas production and processing platform business objectives, while keeping manpower and material use optimized.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose instrumentation loops that can upset the process and resolve them professionally, optimizing manpower and materials.
• Ensure work orders and checklists are completed with actual man-hours, materials used, completion dates and codes analyzed; report daily to the Senior Operations Maintenance Engineer and flag delays.
• Monitor contractor activities and control on-site DCS / telemetry instrument work, explaining permit-to-work procedures.
• Carry out complex repairs such as interlock and shutdown equipment, PCBs, nodes, lamps, transmitters and electronic chips, calibrate complex instruments and control systems, and analyze faults on digital and microprocessor-based instruments.
• Modify field bus, block diagrams and graphics.
• Manage receipt, identification and storage of materials and spare parts, check manifests against shipments, sign delivery notes and return incorrect items with documentation.
• Review outstanding preventive and corrective maintenance jobs to reduce backlogs.
• Maintain records of work performed, requisitions, orders, data sheets, material costs, repair failures and activity reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of varied experience installing, maintaining and fault-finding electronics and pneumatic instruments and control systems in the petrochemical industry.
• BSc in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Aptitude for understanding drawings, P&LIDs and the cause-and-effect of complex microprocessor and/or pneumatic field and package instrumentation control systems.
