Workshop Controller - Automotive

About the role

A leading provider of aerial work platforms (AWPs) and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) in the Middle East and Asia is looking for a Workshop Controller in Doha. The role is busy and pressurised: it involves assigning work to technicians so the workshop runs smoothly, liaising with the Service Department to answer the Workshop Manager's queries, planning incoming work and managing time and resources. The controller also manages team performance and development.

Key responsibilities

• Help management implement and maintain processes that deliver the highest possible customer satisfaction.
• Create parameters for job activities, such as Standard Repair and Operating Time.
• Distribute and control work issued to technicians to maximise quality and efficiency, and manage the workflow through the workshop.
• Lead, motivate and develop the team to meet daily objectives.
• Maintain a strong relationship with the parts department to maximise parts availability.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of job card write-ups and incident reports, including job completion status.
• Maintain a safe working environment in line with the company's HSE policy, with good housekeeping and appearance.
• Uphold the highest ethical standards.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in engineering, operations or workflow management.
• Experience in a commercial vehicle workshop is preferred; minimum 3 years in the same field.
• Hands-on leadership with a proven track record of developing teams, and extensive knowledge of workshop operations and business administration.
• Good written and spoken English; knowledge of another language is an asset.
• Valid Qatar driving licence.
