Chef de Cuisine

About the role

Marriott International is looking for a Chef de Cuisine in Doha, Qatar. The role is accountable for the quality, consistency and production of the restaurant kitchen, coordinating menus, purchasing, staffing and food preparation while working with the team to improve guest and employee satisfaction within the operating budget. It is a full-time management position.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with Food & Beverage policies, standards and procedures, and with applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems or products for the restaurant, including artistic contributions.
• Plan and manage food quantities, plating requirements and daily and seasonal menu items, and estimate daily production needs.
• Prepare and cook foods of all types, check the quality of raw and cooked products, and follow proper handling and temperature standards.
• Lead and supervise cooks and kitchen staff, train them on menu items, ingredients and preparation methods, and ensure they are cross-trained.
• Manage day-to-day operations, set and track kitchen goals and budgets, and investigate and follow up on employee accidents.
• Handle guest problems and complaints, gather guest feedback and coach staff to deliver exceptional service.
• Participate in training, performance appraisals and hiring, and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major.
• 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage or a related field, or 2 years of experience with a degree.
