Chief Accountant

About the role

The Group Securities, an investment organization in the finance industry licensed by the Qatar Financial Markets Authority and a member of the Qatar Stock Exchange, is looking for a Chief Accountant. The role takes responsibility for the core accounting activities of the company, including maintaining sound financial procedures, complying with local regulations and ensuring accurate, timely and complete accounting records.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain local banking relationships, negotiate facility agreements and align them with the company's financial plans and targets
• Monitor compliance with IFRS and IAS, and prepare monthly statutory accounts and consolidated financial statements under IFRS
• Coordinate the monthly closing process and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers and documents business transactions; distribute financial statements and cost center reports
• Issue cost reports of outstanding projects for review and approval, and approve transactions and payment vouchers and journal entries
• Monitor purchases and payables, perform periodic cash flow forecasting and analyze transaction processes for accuracy and efficiency
• Develop and maintain accounting controls, systems and policies, and prepare work papers for the annual financial review
• Meet audit requirements and deadlines, assist with annual budgets, and mentor and support department staff

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent professional qualification
• At least 7 years of experience in accounting and finance as supervisor
• Good English speaking, listening and writing skills
• Leadership, analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial people
