Chief Electrician - DP Vessels

About the role

This position is for a Chief Electrician responsible for the electrical and electronic systems of a dynamic positioning (DP) vessel. The role covers operation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of all electrical equipment, and includes liaison with the Chief Engineer and other electrical personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain electrical generation and distribution systems, including generators, switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, battery systems, emergency power supplies and protection systems.
• Keep electrical systems supporting the vessel's DP3 capability available and maintain adequate stocks of spare parts, consumables, tools and testing equipment.
• Record all maintenance in a detailed log and liaise with the Chief Engineer, ETO/electrical personnel and DPOs on defects affecting DP capability.
• Maintain heli-admin and helicopter communications, and check that any electrical or electronic equipment brought aboard is compatible and compliant with rules, regulations and standards.
• Provide timely updates and reports to the E+I Superintendent and Operations Manager.
• QHSSE: enforce safety, promote HSE culture, ensure the team is trained and competent, carry out risk assessments, run toolbox talks and pre-job safety meetings, investigate accidents and dangerous occurrences, and comply with emergency procedures and legislation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as Chief Electrician onboard DP vessels.
• BOSIET / FOET OPITO certificate.
• H2S OPITO certificate.
• DP Maintenance certificate.
