Design Engineer – Product Development

About the role

The Design Engineer will develop, optimise and refine product designs to ensure they are manufacturable, efficient and cost‑effective. You will work closely with production, quality and procurement teams to align designs with client requirements and company standards while supporting continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed engineering designs, drawings and specifications suitable for manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs are practical, cost‑effective and meet quality standards.
• Perform design calculations, simulations and prototype testing to validate concepts.
• Optimise existing products to improve manufacturability, reduce costs and enhance performance.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and internal guidelines.
• Prepare technical documentation such as bills of materials, assembly instructions and maintenance manuals.
• Participate in design reviews, production trials and problem‑solving initiatives.
• Liaise with clients and project teams to understand requirements and implement design changes.

Required profile

• Graduate or Diploma in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Instrumentation or Electronics.
• Strong knowledge of protection relay communication and protocols.
• Ability to select appropriate devices based on technical specifications and project requirements.
• Self‑driven team player with excellent communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to comply with QHSE standards and actively participate in safety initiatives.
