Director of Rooms

About the role

The Director of Rooms acts as the strategic business leader of the property's Rooms department. The role plans, develops, implements and evaluates the quality of the rooms, works with direct reports to implement departmental strategies and the brand's service strategy, and ensures Rooms operations meet brand standards while growing revenue and maximizing the department's financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Rooms team, champion the brand's service vision, communicate departmental goals and make the decisions needed to achieve them.
• Monitor and promote room rates, specials and promotions.
• Analyze service issues and trends, develop an operational strategy aligned with the brand's business strategy, and audit expenses.
• Monitor rooms sales performance against budget, coach the team on occupancy, rate, wages and controllable expenses, and hold staff accountable for results.
• Drive exceptional guest service: review guest feedback, handle complaints, coordinate events, and use feedback to improve service.
• Manage human resources: interview and hire staff, run pre-shift briefings and staff meetings, set goals through performance reviews, conduct annual appraisals, support growth and development, and ensure fair application of policies and disciplinary procedures.

Required profile

• 2-year degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major, with 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales and marketing, management operations or a related field.
• OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in those fields with 2 years of experience.
