Electrical Engineer – Earthing & Lightning Protection

About the role

We are seeking a results‑oriented Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in designing, installing, testing and commissioning earthing (grounding) and lightning protection systems for high‑rise buildings, substations and major infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop comprehensive earthing, grounding and lightning protection systems in line with project specifications and standards.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, calculations, specifications, method statements and material submittals.
• Conduct earthing system calculations (earth resistance, soil resistivity, step and touch potential) and design LPS and surge protection solutions.
• Supervise installation, testing, inspection and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with approved documents and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, authorities and other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in Qatar or the GCC.
• Strong knowledge of KAHRAMAA, QCDD and international standards (IEC 62305, IEEE 80/142, BS EN 62305).
• Proven experience on high‑rise buildings, substations, industrial or major commercial projects.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Earthing/Grounding system design and calculations.
• Lightning Protection System (LPS) design and surge protection.
• Familiarity with KAHRAMAA and QCDD regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with engineering/design software and AutoCAD.
• Experience with electrical testing equipment and commissioning procedures.
