General Manager – Construction & Engineering

About the role

The General Manager will steer the operational, financial and strategic growth of a leading consultancy delivering high‑profile commercial, residential and retail towers. Reporting to the executive board, the GM acts as the bridge between top‑tier local clients, government authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute long‑term business strategies to maintain a Grade‑A consultancy position in Qatar’s construction market.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities across public and private sectors, representing the firm with government bodies, royal offices and major developers.
• Direct day‑to‑day operations of design registries, Architect of Record processes and site construction supervision units.
• Oversee all architectural, structural, civil, MEP and infrastructure design activities from concept through handover.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination across Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Landscape and Infrastructure disciplines.
• Review and approve technical submissions, value‑engineering studies, constructability reviews and other key deliverables.
• Implement modern technology workflows (BIM, Revit, Navisworks, CAD automation) and enforce rigorous QA/QC, HSE and design risk assessments.
• Manage the firm’s P&L, budgets, capital expenditures and project controls to protect profit margins and cash flow.
• Foster a collaborative, multicultural workplace and guide HR in strategic hiring and talent development.

Required profile

• Senior executive with extensive experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Proven track record in business development and stakeholder management within Qatar’s construction sector.
• Strong financial acumen, including P&L responsibility and budget oversight.
• Deep understanding of local building codes and standards (MME, QCS, Civil Defense, Ashghal, Kahramaa).
• Ability to drive innovation, value‑engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
