Packaging Machine Operator

About the role

This role involves operating machinery used in the nut-processing line, covering stages such as sorting, roasting, packaging and grinding depending on the specific process. The operator keeps machines running efficiently, ensures product quality and follows safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate machinery for sorting, roasting, packaging and grinding, adjusting speed, temperature and timing to ensure optimal production quality.
• Monitor machines during operation, identify abnormalities and take corrective action; troubleshoot basic malfunctions and report complex issues to the maintenance team.
• Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating and inspecting machinery, and keep accurate records of machine settings, maintenance logs and production data.
• Track machine downtime, identify causes and work to minimise stoppages.
• Monitor product quality against company and regulatory standards and follow hygiene and cleanliness policies in the production area.
• Follow safety procedures and standards, including the use of PPE, and ensure safety features on machines are working.
• Monitor production output and help meet daily or shift targets, reporting issues to the Production Supervisor.
• Work with teams, train and mentor new operators, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
• At least 2 years of proven experience as a machine operator or in a similar production role, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of machine operation and basic maintenance procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic machine malfunctions.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards in manufacturing.
• Attention to detail, strong communication and teamwork skills.
