Safety Officer

About the role

This is a predominantly site-based Safety Officer position, reporting to the Project HSE Manager. The role coordinates and supervises the activities of the project team and its contractors, provides HSE guidance and support to the project management team, and promotes a safe working environment on site.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project and contractor activities, communicate with them on all field matters and ensure they receive supporting information in time.
• Provide HSE assistance and direction to the project management team, superintendents and supervisors, and coordinate activities so interface issues and risks are kept to a minimum.
• Monitor and review activities, drive contractors to timely execution, and promote a safe working environment so HSE goals are met.
• Prepare and control work permits where applicable, and evaluate contractors' competencies, procedures, documents and work processes.
• Ensure contractor staffing and competencies stay aligned with their manpower and execution plans.
• Develop project training packages and deliver them to the project management team and contractors.
• Carry out thorough accident and incident investigations.

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in related projects.
• Strong supervisory background with sound practical experience in a multi-national culture.
