Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer

About the role

QatarEnergy LNG is looking for a Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer in Doha. The role deploys and implements asset-based process safety, loss prevention and risk engineering objectives, giving advice to assets and customers on process safety and risk engineering, including brownfield projects and major capital projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and implement the company's process safety, loss prevention and risk management objectives and programme in the assigned asset(s).
• Review engineering documentation, project deliverables and interface documents against relevant standards.
• Facilitate hazard identification (HAZID) and risk assessment studies and prepare the related reports.
• Implement loss prevention engineering procedures in the assigned asset(s).
• Support major safety studies such as quantitative risk assessment (QRA), manage HAZOP, SIL baseline and revalidation, and work with external consultants and other functional groups.
• Coordinate safety case and barrier management, and review Management of Change (MOC) requests to protect plant and field integrity.
• Monitor process safety performance indicators, identify trends and help initiate corrective actions.
• Support the administration and sustainability of the L3 Manage Operations Risk (MOR) Process and L3 Ensure Process Safety.
• Represent Process Safety & Risk Engineering in safety studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, 3D model review, SIL review and QRA.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably chemical, mechanical or safety.
• 8 years' experience in the oil and gas sector in process safety, loss prevention, risk management and technical safety.
• Experience in process safety and risk assessment studies.

Required skills

• Lead hazard identification reviews using recognised techniques such as HAZOP and What-If, with a good understanding of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.
• Practical knowledge of safe systems of work and emergency preparedness.
