Staff Data Engineer – Display Marketing Team (Bangkok, relocation provided)

About the role

Agoda is looking for a senior Staff Data Engineer to join its Display & App Marketing engineering team in Bangkok. You will design, build and operate large‑scale backend services and data pipelines that power paid marketing campaigns across global advertising channels.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and data pipelines for hotel feeds, ad platform integrations and experiment data.
• Participate in full development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
• Identify and improve system reliability, scalability, data quality and operational efficiency.
• Write clear, maintainable code and engage in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing and Engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
• Support engineering standards including CI/CD, monitoring and documentation.
• Make technical trade‑offs across performance, quality and cost.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding and knowledge sharing as appropriate.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience focused on backend and/or data engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, global environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Scala (preferred) or other JVM languages such as Java or Kotlin.
• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, system monitoring and documentation.
