Telecom Commissioning Engineer – Qatar

About the role

Saipem is looking for a Telecom Commissioning Engineer to join the Commissioning Department of the COMP3 Project in Qatar. You will work under the Commissioning Manager, ensuring telecom systems are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input during FEED and detailed engineering stages, aligning with project objectives and industry standards.
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE requirements and legislative regulations.
• Verify that telecommunications systems meet project specifications and are fully operational at hand‑over.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders to integrate telecom requirements into overall project plans.
• Execute safe commissioning, start‑up, and maintenance of telecom systems, adhering to international standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in telecom engineering and commissioning on offshore oil & gas projects.
• Familiarity with offshore compression plants is highly preferred.
• Previous work in O&G EPC companies.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Telecom systems commissioning & testing.
• Fiber optics (OTDR, splicing, testing).
• Network systems (switching, VLAN, IP networking).
• Ability to read network diagrams, P&IDs, and layout drawings.
• Knowledge of FAT, SAT, and commissioning workflows.
