Data Platform Consultant

About the role

The Data Platform Consultant configures and supports client data, analytics, and catalogue platforms within defined architecture, security, and operational controls. Working closely with architects, engineers, security teams and client administrators, the consultant translates platform requirements into reliable, supportable environments and ensures smooth hand‑over to client operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess platform requirements, existing environments, integrations, constraints and user groups.
• Support platform selection and implementation planning with functional and non‑functional evaluation.
• Configure environments, workspaces, connections, roles, permissions and platform services.
• Implement integrations with source systems, identity services, catalogues, analytical tools or data pipelines.
• Apply security, privacy, classification, logging, encryption and privileged‑access controls.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, capacity, performance and service‑level evidence.
• Support backup, recovery, continuity and environment‑restoration procedures.
• Manage configuration records, versioning, release notes and controlled deployments.
• Troubleshoot defects, coordinate vendor support and document resolutions.
• Validate platform behaviour against requirements and support user acceptance.
• Develop administration guides, runbooks, support models and escalation procedures.
• Train client administrators and users and complete a structured operational hand‑over.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in IT, computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–7 years of experience administering enterprise data, analytics, catalogue or cloud platforms.
• Proven experience with identity, access, integration, monitoring, deployment and operational support.
• Experience working within formal change, security and production‑access controls.
• Ability to coordinate with vendors and transfer platforms to client operations.
