Engineer Technician (GIS/Survey)

About the role

The Engineer Technician will support the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) at Al Udeid Air Base, providing drafting, surveying and geospatial services to maintain accurate facility data for the installation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and print custom maps using the Defense Area Printing Service (DAPS) and store them in Government IDMS or other media as requested.
• Conduct engineering surveys for facility projects, construction layout, utility location and disaster response, including topography, boundary and route surveys.
• Perform in‑field land surveys to collect geospatial data for updating utility, infrastructure and facility Mission Data Sets (MDS).
• Develop and maintain technical drawings, geospatial data and maps, and provide drafting support to engineers, craftsmen and customers.
• Establish and maintain a repository of technical reference material, plans and specifications for easy access by engineering and maintenance personnel.
• Compile and organize project documentation such as cost estimates, plans, specifications, statements of work, bills of materials and schedules.
• Utilize GeoBase for installation GIS, performing GIS activities in accordance with DoDI 8130.01, DAFI 32‑10112 and related Air Force guidance.
• Provide updated Common Installation Picture (CIP) maps to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) annually or when infrastructure changes occur.
• Document and maintain spatially accurate, georeferenced digital facility floor plans consistent with Drawing of Record (DoR) and Space Use Data Set (SUDS) guidance.

Required profile

• Experience in engineering drafting, surveying and geospatial data management.
• Familiarity with Air Force civil engineering standards and documentation requirements.
• Ability to work onsite at Al Udeid Air Base and coordinate with military and contractor personnel.
• Knowledge of DoDI 8130.01, DAFI 32‑10112, AFCEC Facility Space Planning & Optimization Management Playbook and related spatial data standards.
