FTTX Engineer / Technician – Active Network Operations

About the role

The FTTX Engineer/Technician will support day‑to‑day operations, maintenance and upgrades of the active fiber network infrastructure. You will work on‑site in Qatar, ensuring service continuity, accurate network records and compliance with technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fiber patching and install GPON/XGPON cards, OLTs, UPEs and transport equipment.
• Update network topology records, as‑built documentation and GIS/inventory systems.
• Support daily Network Engineering Records (NER) activities and ensure data accuracy.
• Install and commission active network hardware, including AC/DC power connections and hardware integration.
• Assist network capacity expansion by installing service boards and modules.
• Troubleshoot fiber patching, SFP modules and connectivity issues.
• Document topology changes and use network management tools for monitoring.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, participate in emergency maintenance and occasional holiday support.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, IT or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in FTTX active network operations or automation.
• Hands‑on experience with Huawei OLT platforms (MA5600T, MA5608T, MA5800 series).
• Strong understanding of GPON/XGPON technologies and OSP architecture.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and a valid Qatar driving licence.
