Category Manager - Tobacco

About the role

The Category Manager – Tobacco will be responsible for driving sales performance of the tobacco product range in Qatar. You will shape pricing, placement, promotion and inventory strategies to maximise visibility, accessibility and profitability of the category.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the category strategy based on market trends, consumer insights and company initiatives.
• Lead, motivate and manage a team of buyers to achieve sales, volume and turnover targets.
• Oversee ordering, pricing and in‑store organization to meet category goals.
• Maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and ensure effective communication.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery and payment terms to maximise profit margins.
• Set competitive pricing points and adjust them to stimulate sales and clear stagnant inventory.
• Expand successful product lines and manage exit strategies for under‑performing items.
• Forecast demand, plan inventory and collaborate with Retail and Marketing to optimise shelf‑side execution.
• Monitor category financial performance (P&L) and take corrective actions as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category or product management, preferably within fast‑moving consumer goods.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and develop a buying team.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management capabilities.
• Deep understanding of retail environments, consumer buying behaviour and market dynamics.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and adjust strategies accordingly.
