Consultant – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

About the role

The Consultant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides senior clinical practice, oversees junior doctors, and takes ultimate responsibility for patient care within the NICU at Hamad Medical Corporation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily inpatient rounds, manage comprehensive treatment of NICU patients, and provide outpatient screening and follow‑up.
• Supervise medical staff, prepare regular activity reports, and participate in departmental and hospital committees.
• Deliver on‑call services, assist with drug and equipment needs assessments, and ensure compliance with HMC policies and revalidation standards.
• Engage in teaching, practical training, academic duties, and scientific research as directed by the department chair.

Required profile

• Western or Arab Board qualification in Neonatology or Pediatrics with a neonatal subspecialty.
• Minimum 1 year post‑qualification NICU experience for Western qualifications or 5 years for Arab Board holders.
• Valid medical license in the home country and eligibility for licensing in Qatar.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with a commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.

Required skills

• Ability to independently diagnose, treat, manage and admit neonatal patients under approved clinical privileges.
• Proficiency in conducting clinical interventions related to neonatal intensive care.
