Consultant Sports Medicine Physician – Doha

About the role

The Consultant Sports Medicine Physician will deliver specialised diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for sports‑related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions to elite athletes and active individuals in Doha. The role emphasizes injury prevention, performance optimisation and evidence‑based, patient‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage sports‑related injuries through comprehensive clinical and functional evaluations.
• Develop and oversee individualised treatment and rehabilitation programmes, including return‑to‑play and concussion management.
• Perform sports‑medicine procedures such as injections and ultrasound‑guided interventions.
• Document care accurately and ensure compliance with regulatory and patient‑safety standards.
• Collaborate with orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, radiologists, nutritionists and sports scientists for integrated care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical governance and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Educate athletes, coaches and healthcare professionals on injury prevention and performance optimisation.
• Engage in research, audits, continuing education and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) and completed residency training.
• Fellowship or board certification in Sports Medicine or related specialty.
• Minimum 10 years post‑board/fellowship experience as a consultant in sports medicine.
• Experience working with elite athletes or professional sports teams is preferred.
• Eligibility for consultant licensure with the Qatar healthcare regulatory authority and a valid professional registration.
